Kuwait City: Three goals in the first 18 minutes helped Qatar score a 4-0 win over Yemen in their opening Gulf Cup 2017 Group B match at the Kuwait Sports Club Stadium on Saturday.
Qatar, preparing to host the FIFA World Cup 2022, started aggressively and were rewarded just two minutes into the match when Akram Afif headed home a cross.
Yemen had hardly any time to regroup as they found themselves trailing 2-0 just three minutes later as Almadhi Ali Mukhtar doubled Qatar's lead.
The lead was widened further in the 18th minute by Almoez Ali, who headed home from close range.
Having taken a comfortable lead, Qatar took their foot off the pedal which allowed Yemen to see more of the match.
A goal, however, eluded Yemen and it was Qatar who rounded off a great start with Pedro scoring their fourth in the 84th minute.
